Changtongya is a mountainous town in Mokokchung district of Nagaland. This town is situated 40 kilometers in the North of Mokokchung as well as approximately 40 kilometers from the South of Tuli. Changtongya is flanked by 2 major urban centers of Mokokchung District. The town consists of 2 main parts namely Electrical Colony of Changtongya and Changtongya Headquarters.
According to the census of year 2011, the population of the town was 7532. English is the official language of the town.

The town is positioned at 26.57 degrees in the North and 94.70 degrees in the East. The avg. elevation of Changtongya is 1660 feet or 506 meter. Migratory birds especially falcons fly from Germany and Mongolia to this forest. The river Tsula is popular for its special characteristic which is – it has a spot from where the crude oil arises. The local people of the town call it “Menemtsu”.
